| Company Profile: OLYMPIC BROADCASTING SERVICES VANCOUVER (OBSV). As a wholly owned subsidiary of Olympic Broadcast Services (a management company set up by the IOC) OBSV was created to serve as the host broadcaster for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver. As host broadcaster, OBSV is responsible for producing and distributing the unbiased radio and television coverage for the Olympic Winter Games. In conjunction with this coverage, OBSV also provides various facilities and services to international broadcasting companies which are commonly referred to as the Rights Holding Broadcasters. Reporting the Head of Logistics, the Airport Coordinator will coordinate the flight arrival process for long-term personnel arriving to Vancouver prior to the Winter Olympic Games (Games). They will also meet, greet and coordinate the ground transportation transfers. During the Winter Olympic Games, the Airport Coordinator is stationed at the OBSV Airport Help Desk at Vancouver International Airport (YVR) to assist with the main arrival and departure phases of all the OBSV crew members. Duties/Responsibilities • Responsible for organizing and assisting the arrivals and departures of all OBSV Production crews, vendors and freelance contractors to/from Canada for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games either via plane, train, bus or boat. • Communicate itineraries and schedule changes directly to all OBSV production crews, vendors and individual contractors in a timely manner. • Manage, maintain and\or update the OBSV Air Transportation database along with creating the required Pre-Games and Games time air travel reports. • Work with VANOC YVR Venue Management team at YVR to coordinate the arrivals and departures of OBSV personnel and transfer to Media bus transport mall at specific load zones • Liaise daily with transport load zone managers to ensure OBSV personnel depart to accommodation in a timely manner • Work with airline and YVR airport staff to track flights, deal with passenger delays, lost luggage and any irregular operational issues • Liaise with and be familiar with the Canadian Border Services Protection agency operations and regulations at the Vancouver International Airport • Operate (on a shift schedule) the OBSV Airport Help Desk at YVR during Games time arrivals and departure phases • Answer questions and provide general assistance to all OBSV crew members • Manage difficult situations, and respond to emergencies • Receive and handle client complaints To be considered for this opportunity, please email your resume position within the subject line of the email. Job Requirements: Knowledge/Skills • Excellent command of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook). • Have existing contacts with major airlines • Be familiar with international and domestic air travel routes and trends, airline practices, baggage policies, lost luggage procedures • Familiarity with airline codes and IATA city codes • Knowledgeable of the following: o Airline industry in Canada, Europe and North America. o Contractual / negotiated air travel and airline agreements that may include group travel requirements o Canadian airline legislation o Vancouver International Airport operations, building setup, passenger flows • Proven team leader with outstanding organization skills, hard working, deadline oriented and proactive • Ability to work well under pressure and demanding working schedule • Proactive and very organized • Must be able to work in a team oriented fast paced atmosphere in multi-national company. • Outgoing personality, self-motivated and enthusiastic. Qualifications/Relevant Experience • Client service experience considered an asset • English as a first language, fluency in a second language would be an asset. • Valid British Columbia class 5 drivers license • 3-5 years recent experience working for an airline or ground service provider • Degree related to the Tourism Industry, an I.A.T.A. Diploma, or Significant Airport Operations experience would be an asset Work Schedule: • Requirement to spend extended periods standing/walking and to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
