We are searching for a Logistics Manager, Toronto East General Hospital, who will provide leadership and direction for the supply chain function, including logistics operations, inventory management/ replenishment, receiving and central stores.
As an on-site Plexxus employee, the Manager is part of both the Toronto East General Hospital and Plexxus' teams. The Manager is accountable for executing the Plexxus model and is responsible for ensuring the highest level of Logistics service to the hospital. In addition the Manager is responsible for managing the Logistics staff and leading them in a team-oriented approach with a major focus on customer service.
Key Accountabilities:
- Manage the daily operations of the Logistics department to maximize staff efficiency and ensure efficient flow of supplies, with a strong focus on cart management on the patient care units
- Manage the replenishment of inventory levels in the central store to ensure a high level of customer service in the most fiscally responsible manner
- Review and update of daily inventory issues, credits and adjustments
- Conduct regularly scheduled reviews of cart management to optimize supply and inventory levels, review results and gain consensus with clinical partners to implement changes
- The monitoring and control of inventory levels, reorder points, product movement and departmental usages and charges
- Take a leadership role in the maintenance and ongoing updating of the inventory control system; ensure staff are trained and utilizing the system effectively
- Provide technical support and advice to customer groups involved in inventory counts and reconciliation
- Responsible for managing the timely and accurate flow of all stock and non-stock material within Receiving, Shipping, Stores and Distribution areas
- Coach and mentor a team of 17 direct reports following effective performance management processes and labour relation practices
- Ensure that staffing levels are sufficient in order to provide excellent customer service; recruit, develop and train staff; develop succession plans
- Work closely with all in-hospital purchasing and contract management staff to ensure the continuity and full integration of all functions
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with the hospital senior management team and department heads
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with the Plexxus Distribution Centre staff
- Manage and assist staff to ensure awareness, understanding and application of policies & procedures
- Ensure all processes, transactions and external business relationships are in accordance with policy, procedure and the highest of ethical standards
- Ensure all areas of Logistics are a safe working environment and all staff and equipment operates in a safe and effective manner
- Maintain fiscal responsibility for Logistics operating budget; participate in budget preparation, reporting and forecasting
- Provide monthly reports on key productivity indicators to monitor departmental effectiveness
- Participate in Labour Management meetings encompassing a wide range of labour, employee and department issues
- Conduct meetings with unionized employees regarding changes to the collective agreement and department policies, as required
- Contribute to development of the strategic/tactical plans
Job Requirements:
- Minimum of five (5) years experience leading a Supply Chain team with demonstrated ability to develop a structured approach to process improvement and problem solving
- In-depth background from the health care sector
- Demonstrated skills in planning, organization, evaluation and implementation processes, along with strong leadership, team building, time management, problem solving and communication skills
- Strong conceptual skills with the ability to understand and accurately interpret all functional indicators impacting customer service
- Proven experience in inventory management, including experience with integrated inventory technology solutions, and deep analytical capabilities.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to relate to and communicate with all levels of management, customers, peers, suppliers and staff
- Able to be assertive and work under broad guidelines using own initiative
- Able to balance the needs of the customer while keeping in mind the constraints of the business
- Highly proficient in technology and software applications
- Strong organizational skills and a demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects

Education:
- University Degree or College Diploma in a related discipline, preferably Business or Supply Chain Management
- Supply Chain accreditation with CITT or The Logistics Institute, is an asset
