Job Description: The DSD Routing Specialist works directly with DC and Corp. Mgmt. to develop approximately ten DSD DCs route master databases. These databases are dependent on Customer delivery windows and the position is required to deliver an optimized delivery schedule that minimizes miles, fleet Drivers, and transportation equipment in order to create the most efficient transportation network for each of the DCs assigned to them.Using lean tools and principals the position provides ongoing support and consultation to DC mgmt. regarding new customers, routing optimization solutions, holiday schedules, and impacts of routing solutions to DC operating costs. It optimizes DCs routes daily to accommodate added delivery needs of the Customer. The position specializes in utilizing Appian Logistics routing software to develop, produce and evaluate routing proforma analysis for existing and potential business and determines customer impact to current DC operations.- Uses lean tools/principals and Appian Logistics software to design, create, and implement optimal routing solutions for DSD DCs within customer, Kellogg, and Federal regulatory parameters- Assess and analyzes DC operational statistics and financial result regarding transportation costs to keep appraised and to make recommendations that result in operational cost savings- Maintain and update the Appian network routing database environments to assure proper operation and to generate optimal routing results when utilizing the routing system- Provide ongoing support and consultation to DC Mgmt. regarding new customers and promotional activity as relates to the impact to routing and the DC operating costs- Review current and potential backhaul opportunities and create routing to improve freight revenue while minimizing empty miles- Analyze the effectiveness of an implemented reroute through ongoing monitoring and communication with DC Mgmt.- Provide support on various projects as assigned Job Requirements: - Prior experience with distribution routing and navigational systems software preferred- Knowledge and application of lean tools and principals - Basic SAP knowledge a plus- Experience in computerized routing and experience in distribution operations preferred - Advanced level skills in Excel and Word - able to create macros, merges, merge queries, templates, table techniques, etc.- Strong analytical skills and effective written and verbal communication skills to reach across their DC or the entire Kellogg company- Frequently works under pressure - must be able to perform with limited supervision- Ability to travel and work flexible schedules.Strong communication skills, organization skills, and leadership. Bachelors Degree with two years supply chain distribution experience preferred |
