Job Description:
Kelloggs has an exciting opportunity for a Procurement Manager, located in Battle Creek, MI. The Procurement Manager will be accountable for ingredient sourcing, market trend analysis, contract negotiation and risk management strategies. This position also provides management and procurement business expertise for effective utilization of strategic sourcing techniques and supplier relationship management processes that drive efficiencies, cost effectiveness and continuous improvement within supply chain.

Responsibilities include:
  • Develops and manages strategic sourcing strategies including utilizing Request for Proposal processes, establishing negotiation strategies, and determining supplier selection including implementation strategies.
  • Manages the following aspects of an ingredient portfolio to provide the best value and a competitive advantage in the marketplace: market analysis, long term strategy development, risk management, supplier implementation, on going supplier management, cost reductions, cash flow and innovations.
  • Provides compliance reporting and savings tracking to support implementation of strategic sourcing initiatives.
  • Obtains approval of sourcing strategies from stakeholders/sponsors, creates alignment of assigned team members, and initiates the project and direct activities of team members and other contributors according to the sourcing strategy.
  • Develops, executes, and manages contracts and must have knowledge of supplier contract terms. This includes knowledge of the legal terminology and language related to agreements and contracts, as well as renewals.
  • Supports Kellogg Supplier Diversity initiatives by locating and developing a diverse supply base, including certified suppliers that meet corporate diversity targets.
  • Travel 10-30%

Job Requirements:
Minimum education and experience is High School diploma/G.E.D equivalent and 10 years related work experience or Bachelors Degree and 6 years related work experience (manufacturing, supply chain management, business). Preferred education and experience is Bachelors degree and 8 years related work experience. Requires strong leadership, planning and technical skills. Must have work experience with a consumer products company or food manufacturer with strong knowledge of agricultural ingredients and commodity markets. Must have proven track record on ability to manage multiple suppliers, including bid process, contract development, compliance and overall supplier performance. 5-7 years procurement experience with exchange traded commodities coupled with strong financial understanding. Must have experience in commodity risk management, including identifying risks and opportunities along with developing recommendations based on global market dynamics. Must have proven track record of demonstrating strong negotiation skills.
