Job Description: The Transportation Supervisor will coordinate the transport of lab samples and directly supervise personnel in courier department. In addition, insure all work is performed as outlined in the departmental SOPs and departmental personnel comply with all policies and procedures of the company and within the department.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Authorize overtime and schedule personnel within the department
- Direct all technical activities within the department, for all shifts.
- Authorize additional pickups and relief help as needed.
- Obtain necessary service for departmental equipment.
- Interviewing, hiring, and conducting performance reviews.
- Develop route line stops for drivers and assign efficient sequence of stops for drivers.
- Keep maps, routes and client locations up to date.
- Basic knowledge of automobile, its operation and maintenance.
- Efficiently manage fleet.
- Knowledge of requirements and procedures of mailing, shipping and outside courier service.
- Biohazards related to specimens
- Chemical hazards related to supplies
Familiar with the operation, maintenance and/or repair of departmental equipment
- Responsible for all departmental equip repair, maintenance calibration and standardization.
- Must be knowledgeable of routes and locations of clients and able to assist clients with questions or problems related to specimen pickup or delivery
- Responsible for inventory control and ordering of supplies to insure adequate levels of supplies are maintained within the department
- Must be able to correct and complete, in a timely, efficient manner, all billing, corrections emanating from the department
- Meet or exceed budget expectations for cost center
- Monthly reporting of department metrics
- Provide management with current cost information and share ideas of adding revenue
- Develop and propose budget independently
- Ensure delivery and proficient operations and safety training to staff.
- Identify and manage training needs
- Identify and lead opportunities for change and improvement.
- Other duties as needed/required
Job Requirements:
EDUCATION: High school diploma preferred
EXPERIENCE:
Six years supervisory experience.
Computer/Technical Acumen

Must have a valid drivers license and acceptable driving record
