Job Description:
To maximize the performance of the group/region by providing leadership, focusing on customer requirements, operational performance, a motivated workforce, succession planning and -making Exel a great place to work-.

Key Accountabilities:
• Responsibility for both hub/network and dedicated locations. All "Drivers" are owner-operators, not associates
• Very much a hands on role. Mostly tactical versus strategic (80/20) with a goal of being less tactical (70/30)
• Great deal of emphasis and measurement placed on financial performance, customer service performance and safety performance
• Management responsibility (exact number TBD) from General Manager to District Manager level
• A lot of customer interaction (meetings, emails, phone contact), particularly on the dedicated customer side, but also involving network customers.


Customer:
• Create/ensure customer/vendor contract requirements are clear, correct, and executable

Associate:
• Visit sites according to the site interaction matrix, apply similar discipline to direct reports
• Take an active role in managing turnover to the appropriate level (among hourly and management staff)
• Provide key manager development/succession planning

Process:
• Execution of projects strategic initiatives
• Ensure the transfer of best practices throughout the area of responsibility
• Achieve agreed budget, revenue, profit (P&L) for the area of responsibility
• Ensure compliance to all accounting, operationally, regulatory, and administrative policies and procedures
• Monitor service levels to ensure that performance statistics meet customer and Exel's (balanced scorecard) contractual requirements
• Participate in the management and planning of regional initiatives to include: space, equipment, labor, systems, etc.
• Ensure resource management / equipment planning processes are properly defined, deployed and measured



Job Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
• 3-5 years logistics industry experience
• Managed transportation experience
• 7-10 years experience in supervisor/management role
• P/L management
