Position Purpose The Senior Manhattan Systems Expert (SMSE) uses extensive knowledge and skills obtained through education and experience to administer and manage more complex enterprise software solutions, which may include commercial off the shelf packages or purchased components which are integrated with other systems and in-house developed code. The SMSE is responsible for devising or modifying procedures to meet business objectives to include query design, system installation, security, and application support. The Manhattan specialist acts as a primary support on large or multiple applications with significant impact to the business. Essential Job Functions -Interact professionally and effectively through verbal and written communication with end users, vendors, and IT departments to solve production, development, and quality assurance environment problems quickly. -Independently prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes. -Analyze data to determine the appropriate course of action. -Ensures high availability, security and integrity of assigned applications. -Monitors application, including setting alerts to maintain the stability of the environment and application, and monitoring error logs; troubleshoots and works directly with vendors to resolve issues. -Installs or coordinates installation of application patches and releases on development, test, quality assurance and production systems; analyzes performance trends to optimize application performance. -Serves as the first point of contact to other IT departments and application vendors regarding installations, server maintenance, licensing and upgrade issues. -Maintains current description and documentation of application configuration, including tracking and documenting any changes to environments; assists in capacity planning, performance monitoring and tuning, and data assurance on assigned systems. -Ensures adherence to Service Level Agreements regarding application availability; adheres to established IT department policies and procedures. -Participates in disaster recovery planning, including assisting with fault tolerance and disaster recovery plans; ensures reporting of downtime on production environment. -Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned. -Travel as needed and up to 50%; regular travel up to 25% should be expected. Education / Experience -A 4-year degree technical degree is highly preferred -5+ years experience in an information systems administration position required -3+ years experience with application development. -5+ years experience with a WMS/WMOS system -4+ years experience with Manhattan Software -2+ years of Windows & UNIX experience required -2+ years experience managing implementations and/or upgrades -Experience with Crystal Reports, Labor Management Systems, Picking Subsystems, RF Wireless Devices, Warehouse Control Systems, Advanced knowledge of -Application and web server operating systems -Architecture of assigned applications -Available monitoring tools to ensure high availability of assigned applications -Business needs met by assigned applications -Concepts, principles and practices of system administration. -Policies and procedures used in IT and how they affect assigned applications -Project management -Relational databases -Windows operating systems platforms Advanced ability to -Act swiftly and accurately in a calm, professional manner to correct any disruption that may occur to an application or application server -Attend to detail in ensuring operations on application servers are accurate, including developing contingency plans. -Build internal and external relationships via a variety of methods (in person, email, phone, etc.) -Identify, troubleshoot and if necessary, escalate application problems -Install, maintain and upgrade application software -Operate standard office equipment and use required software applications -Organize, manage and track multiple detailed tasks and assignments with frequently changing priorities in a fast-paced work environment -Partner with other functional areas to accomplish objectives. -Provide a high level of customer service -Stay organized, manage time effectively, and troubleshoot issues. -Work independently and identify/resolve issues with limited support Local candidates will be given preference but we are open to offering relocation assistance to highly qualified candidates.
