Job Description: The purpose of this position is to perform basic system operation duties for the IT infrastructure at a Lowe's Regional Distribution Center. The incumbent in this position monitors system performance and integrity, installs system hardware and software, performs preventive maintenance, system backups and equipment repair. They will analyze and respond to problems, referring more complex problems and issues to the Supply Chain Service Desk. This position will function in a continuously-operating production environment and acts in accordance with Lowe's ITO operating principles.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Perform system operations and support for the IT infrastructure.
- Resolve incident escalations as assigned by the Supply Chain Service Desk.
- Log all incidents in the Lowe's Incident Management system. Perform intermediate troubleshooting and provide timely resolutions to issues.
- Perform maintenance of all facility computer systems. Perform preventive maintenance and break-fix repairs on PCs, thin-clients, hand held devices and may assist on more complex devices.
- Maintain operational status of all facility printers. Performs preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs and hardware and software upgrades.
- Perform system backups, restores and ensures the integrity of the backup media and peripherals.
- Installs computer hardware, peripheral equipment, software and upgrades as appropriate.
- Monitor and communicate with DC Systems Manager regarding the performance and integrity of all RDC IT infrastructure.
- Serve as on-site technical resource to assist corporate IT staff in troubleshooting and optimization efforts.
- Perform patch management tasks as directed on all RDC IT infrastructure.
- Maintain integrity of asset management database.
- Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures for RDC IT infrastructure.
- May serve as advisor/trainer/mentor to junior field staff
- May assist in the execution of Lowe's business continuity plans including disaster recovery processes.
Position Requirements:
- 2-4 years of computer operations or related Information Technology experience.
- Computer operations or related Information Technology experience.
- Demonstrable experience diagnosing and troubleshooting IT system problems in a complex, heterogeneous systems environment.
- Demonstrable knowledge of MS Office software.
- Experience in networking (LAN and WAN) and operations within Intel and UNIX environment (hardware and software).
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Good time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work day, night and weekend shifts, including holidays, and be able to participate in a rotating on-call schedule based on business needs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2 year degree in IT related field.
- A certification.
- Certification in technical subject areas is helpful.
- Large-scale operations experience in either another retailer or supply chain organization.
- 2-3 years of distribution systems and business knowledge.
