As the Sr. Manager of Transportation you will:
Plan, direct, and oversee transportation functions to ensure cost and service are world-class.
Manage day to day operations of our 3rd Party Logistics Provider
Implementation of strategic initiatives that improve service and drive costs out of the business.
Lead logistics efforts with the procurement group.
Manage transportation spend of $300M and deliveries in excess of 200,000
Manage the daily operational activities of our 3rd Party Logistics Provider.
Oversee the amalgamation of qualitative and quantitative information from a variety of sources to provide analysis and business insight to improve decision making capabilities.
Define and articulate key stakeholder needs as they relate to information reporting, analysis and distribution.
Provide the business knowledge to support effective utilization, modeling, and implementation of optimized transportation strategies (Internally and Ryder TMS)
Develop and identify performance metrics and indicators to achieve desired goals and objectives across the logistics network.
Coordinate transportation projects between 3PL (Ryder) and company transport operations.
Identify and implement opportunities to reduce costs and improve performance through modal shifts - increase intermodal usage, reduce or consolidate LTL shipments, and implement DCC opportunities.
Execute against customer requirements and operations performance to improve service and costs.
Champion process standardization across business units.
Improve operations with the effective use of transportation management systems.
Manage and utilize key performance indicators for logistics activities.
Understand process performance versus target objectives, identify reasons for variance, communication and implement necessary changes.
Job Requirements:
In order to succeed in this role, it is expected that you will have:
Knowledge of Transportation Management Software (TMS) REQUIRED.
Knowledge of SAP Highly Preferred
Progressive success in performance-based environments that focus on customer service, urgency and continuous improvement.
Ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization
Ability to effectively communicate and consult with internal and external resources on analysis and results, and formulate and implement cross functional improvements.
Expertise to model multiple supply chains.
Good cost reduction and cost management skills.
Strong relationship-building skills
7-10 years supply chain management experience in transportation and distribution at a Beverage or CPG company
BS in Logistics or a related discipline
Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Transportation Management Software (TMS) and SAP.
Prior experience/proficiency with i2's Transportation Manager/Optimizer software.
