Job Description: This position is for local residents only. Job Objective: Manage the Customs and logistics services for assigned clients.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Licensed U.S. Customs Broker, knowledge of CBP regulations and procedures and able to assist client base in ensuring their business needs are met with regards to import/export, e.g. remote location filing, post entry adjustments, duty drawbacks, etc.
- Classify goods using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule
- Audit accuracy of shipments that are entered by a Client Service Representative
- Develop and maintain client profiles, ensuring that client-specific information is regularly updated
- Proactively identify and eliminate potential services defects
- Identify and analyze new business opportunities to continually increase the value of Trans American to the Client
- Assume role of FDA specialist, remain current on all FDA initiatives
- Seek to obtain training and further self-development in areas that may prove beneficial to not only yourself but the services that you render to assigned clients
- Audit 7501's to verify that proper declarations are submitted to CBP, which could adversely affect duty payments for the clients.
- Knows how to perform all functions of the Client Service Representatives.

Job Requirements: Qualification Requirements:
- A current U.S. Customs broker's license is required.
- Minimum of three (3) years experience and/or training in the Customs and logistics industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must have a working knowledge of U.S. Customs and be able to manage these services at border, ocean and air-ports.
- Must also have a working knowledge and able to manage related transportation and distribution services.
Education:
- Minimum requirement: High School Diploma, however 2or 4 year college degree desirable.
Language Ability:
- Thoroughly competent in English, (for Miami office also Spanish), verbal, writing and reading. Able to analyze and interpret government tariff schedules, regulations, general business periodicals, professional journals and technical procedures.
Math Ability:
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, duty/taxes, commissions and percentages.
Reasoning Ability:
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Able to obtain detailed technical and/or practical information necessary to carry out duties and responsibilities as described above from appropriate sources.
Computer Skills:
- Proficient in usage of U.S. Customs ABI/RLF processing, IBM A/S400, MS Word and Excel, email and the internet.
Physical Demands:
- Able to perform well in a high activity and time sensitive environment. Able to travel to visit Clients at their locations from time to time.
