Job Description:
This position is for local residents only.
Schedules and Coordinates pick up and delivery of loads w/ customers, driver and co-workers; traces load to assure delivery of freight to customers on time and to the customers' satisfaction. Maintains and increases customer base and drivers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Strategic Development:
  • Market the company image
  • Understand geography, customers, and potential.


Operational Excellence:
  • Ensure all driver loads are covered and on time
  • Confirm drivers have the right equipment for their pick ups
  • Perform prompt data entry and requests needed paperwork for loads
  • Trace and monitor loads/ Shipments to prevent any problems
  • May manage freight volume if issues arise
  • Monitor equipment to move it as quickly as possible to reduce per diem costs for empty equipment
  • Issue keys, record sheets, and credentials to drivers
  • Monitor on-time performance for driver delivery and pick-up
  • Prepare tracking reports for customers


Customer Development:
  • Communicate with customers/customer service departments regarding scheduling appointments and problems that arise with pick up or delivery of loads; works to ensure customer is satisfied
  • Enter customer load into system; update loads when drivers call in


Organizational Effectiveness:
  • Plan drivers' dispatch, assigning loads to drivers according to needs and driver capabilities
  • Communicate with drivers to give dispatch instructions
  • Assist drivers in resolving problems
  • Receive instruction and assistance from superior as needed
  • Communicate driver issues to supervisor
  • Coordinate with other terminals to meet customer needs and ensure all pick ups are made


Financial Performance:
  • Prevent any unnecessary company charges or liabilities
  • Maintain record of mileage, fuel used, repairs made, and other expenses


REQUIREMENTS:
  • Experience in Intermodal Transportation Industry necessary
  • Associate's degree or equivalent from technical school or institution
  • Ability to use various computer systems
  • Excellent communication, both written and verbal
  • Ability to read and interpret business reports and daily logs
  • Ability to work under moderate supervision
  • Flexible - able to work in fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work long hours if necessary to handle special customer requests.
