Title: Director, Global Trade Compliance / Empowered Official - Export Location: Northern California / Bay Area Industry: Semiconductor & Microprocessor Job Summary: This position will help develop and grow a global export compliance program with a world leader in the electronic components and computer processor manufacturing industry Essential Duties/Responsibilities: • Assist the Director of Trade Compliance / Legal with the development, implementation, administration, and continuous improvement of the Company's global export trade compliance program • Lead and direct decentralized worldwide compliance staff, ultimately bringing all in line with cohesive global program. • Serve as an Empowered Official and makes available expert direction on regulatory matters relating to global trade compliance • Ensure the Company's compliance with U.S. and foreign export trade regulations • Develop and implement the Company's global export compliance program; develop processes and procedures, and ensure the implementation of export management systems (i.e. product and technology classification, order processing, recordkeeping, auditing, monitoring and screening) • Develop, implement, and maintain training programs for employees and business managers involved in export compliance related activities • Review, identify, document and regularly audit product and technology export classifications • Prepare and file for commodity classifications and/or commodity jurisdiction requests as necessary and maintain adequate technical and legal backup documentation • Conduct regular export compliance process reviews and internal audits across all operating units to assure export compliance effectiveness and identify areas of weakness for improvement • Develop, manage and supervise automated solutions relating to export transactions, order processing, screening and licensing • Work with relevant departments and employees involved in export compliance to provide guidance and direction with respect to export compliance and license requirements for commodities, software and technology • Draft, amend and file export licenses and seek required government approvals • Coordinate with the HR department with respect to -deemed export- compliance • Maintain, register and renew DDTC, D-Trade, SNAP-R and other government registrations • Actively participate in industry groups and trade associations Requirements / Qualifications: • B.S. or higher in Engineering, or other technical / scientific field *** REQUIRED*** • Subject matter expertise in ITAR, EAR, and OFAC • Working knowledge of global export controls and technology transfer restrictions, especially EU and Asia/Pacific • Significant experience in Export Trade Compliance / Export Controls / Project Management - Minimum 10 years • EMS expert - guidelines and implementation • Technical and electrical engineering expertise in the technology industry is preferred, especially related to integrated circuits • Ability to work with engineers and lawyers with respect to product classifications, and ability to draft technical backup memos to support such classifications • Industry knowledge of semiconductor, GPS, telecommunications, aerospace, satellite, encryption, security and other technologies subject to export controls To apply, please send your resume in Word (.doc) format and salary history to: Jennifer Beckett jbeckett@tylersearch.com ALL INQUIRIES HANDLED IN THE STRICTEST OF CONFIDENCE |
