Job Description:


Requirements: Bachelor of Science in the Food Sciences preferred. B.S. in Biology, Microbiology, and Chemistry also accepted. Minimum 5 years of management experience.Designing needed Research & Development activities to enhance process and product quality and safety. Works closely with industry workgroups and other agencies to ensure the company's ongoing participation in all aspects of the industry's food safety programs.Provides technical guidance on the purchase of raw materials and equipment related to food safety and sanitation issues.Works closely with raw material, ingredient, chemical, equipment, packaging, and pest control service suppliers to achieve the highest quality and food safety standards.
  • Oversee QA/QC/HACCP programs and SOP's of raw and finished seafood product suppliers.Plan and establish processing schedules and follow up performance against estimates and standards. Approve process specification and design standards.
  • Responsible for ensuring customer food quality standards and customer specific food safety practices. Confer with organization officials to plan business objectives, to develop organizational objectives and to coordinate functions. Recommend new policies and procedures as necessary. Interpret and enforce company and regulatory policies to employees, supervisors and managers. Interpret scientific data to constantly improve the safety and quality of products.
  • Good computer skills including MS Word, Excel, Publisher, & PowerPoint. Meticulous attention to detail.Proficient knowledge of quality assurance and food safety standards, including third party standards such as BRC, SQF, and ISO.
  • Outstanding organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously. Demonstrated ability to manage and motivate diverse groups. Ability to be flexible and work and communicate well with others. Ability to spend 80% of time on plant environment. Commitment to the objectives of the organization. Spanish a plus.
