Job Description:

Position Purpose: Support the enterprise Thermal Processing Programs leadership as the technical resource regulated facilities (e.g. FDA, USDC and USDA inspected facilities).

This position will assist in the development, implementation, monitoring and continuous improvement of thermal process and food safety systems to ensure Bay Valley Foods facilities are operating in compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements. Assist in identifying, planning, organizing, administering and assessing food processes to insure microbiological safety. Develop preservation process based on scientific principles to optimally produce safe and high quality products, and provide process instructions to preserve/process products.
  • Manage and upkeep all original process development files, process deviation files, and regulatory process filing files for regulatory compliance.
  • Evaluate and introduce new process technologies for innovation and safety enhancement. Register necessary sterilization information with FDA & USDA for all facilities.
  • Conduct process and equipment audits for Bay Valley Foods production facilities to insure food safety.
  • Maintain corporate quality assurance guidelines and procedures for Thermal Processing and Food Safety.
  • Train and certify Pilot Plant thermal processing personnel for safe operation of lab sterilizers.
  • Conduct periodic audits of thermal processing operations in Bay Valley Foods locations. Ensure and facilitate that annual HACCP and SSOP reassessments are conducted.
  • Support each facility to maintain consistent with company continuous improvement processes. Utilize process metrics to anticipate potential problems and recognize existing problems that could affect product safety and quality.
  • Identify root causes and resolve problems before they add risk and costs. Be a part of a project team directed at, or associated with, initiatives dealing with thermal processing issues
