Our client, a leading Western Canada ICI construction company has an immediate need for an Estimator to join their growing Saskatoon branch. Reporting to the Chief Estimator, you will assume responsibility for the preconstruction cost management of small to large-scale projects. During the preconstruction phase, you will work closely with the Owner, Design Consultant and Project Manager to prepare cost plans, undertake value engineering, complete cost saving exercises and develop the project budget. You will continue through the tendering sub-trade work ensuring that all aspects are effectively coordinated, meet the project specifications and are under or at budget. In carrying out your responsibilities, you will utilize open and honest communication with all parties involved and work closely with the Owner, Consultant, Project Manager and Trade Contractors to meet and exceed the expectations of each stakeholder. More specifically, your responsibilities will include: • Participating in project development activities including scope definition and clarification, preconstruction planning, control estimate development and delivery. • Providing preconstruction services including the preparation of preliminary budgets, cost plans, and value engineering opportunities. • Working closely with the Project Manager, Construction Manager, Owner and consultant(s) to develop a high performing project execution team. • Accurately preparing and managing project budgets during the design and construction phase(s) including the development of preliminary construction schedules. • Continuously reviewing market conditions, updating cost information, and re-forecasting trends as needed. • Overseeing the tendering and awarding of sub-trade contracts. • Proactively identifying, addressing, and resolving issues and problems as or before they occur. • Developing and maintaining positive working relationships with clients, consultants and sub-trades with a focus on mutual trust and respect. SALARY RANGE: Please indicate your target compensation when applying! QUALIFICATIONS: As an experienced commercial construction estimator you will demonstrate a record of success on large-scale projects ($40Million ). You will be a university or technical graduate in quantity surveying, construction management, engineering or equivalent and will possess a minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in the capacity of an Estimator. This experience should include a full range of project delivery methods including lump sum, construction management and design build for projects $40M .
