What you'll do on a typical day:

  • Oversee the Cargo Claims program to ensure the proper and efficient handling of claims, in accordance with various insurance requirements and contractual requirements
  • Manage and develop the claims team through mentoring, goal setting, and accountability of expectations
  • Manage the Cargo Claims department to ensure XPO's rules and procedures regarding freight claims, loss, theft, and authorized commodities are being followed
  • Interface with various high-level personnel within our organization and customer base to negotiate high-profile, problematic claims
  • Provide information for senior-level reporting on loss forecasting and estimating the financial impact of freight claims
  • Lead the recruiting, hiring, management and performance management of your team
  • Prioritize regular workload, special tasks and concurrent projects, allocating time and resources to ensure that work is completed accurately and efficiently within established time frame

What you need to succeed at XPO:

At a minimum, you'll need:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3 years of claim-related management experience and/or training
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

It'd be great if you also have:

  • Associate or bachelor's degree
  • CCP (Certified Claims Processor) certification
  • Self-motivated and able to work well with minimal supervision or in a team environment; consult with team members and management as needed
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to present clean, organized, and thorough information and data appropriate for intended audience
  • Strong attention to detail and follow-up skills with ability to identify and resolve problems
  • Ability to analyze large amounts of data from multiple sources
  • Ability to identify opportunities to increase accuracy, optimize resources, and develop, recommend, and implement solutions
