What is the Associate Sales Engineer Development Program?

Timken is seeking bright, outgoing and highly energetic mechanical engineers who want a challenging and rewarding career opportunity. The Associate Sales Engineering Development program will allow you to get out from behind the desk and apply your technical knowledge and expertise to solve our customer's problems.

The development program provides an intensive 6-month training program makes the associate sales engineer an expert in the technical, financial and commercial skills required to solve customer problems. The development program combines classroom and on-the-job training. Training includes knowledge of bearings and other power transmission components, customers' applications, company business operating philosophies, finance and value selling techniques. Our training program is one of the most respected in the industry and prepares you for success with our customer. Candidates should enjoy contact with people, have excellent communication skills and be self-motivated.

What You'll Be Doing

During this accelerated 6-month training program based in North Canton, OH, you'll be exposed to all aspects of the Timken Bearings and Power Transmission business. Upon completion of the training program, you will be placed into one of our sales offices in the United States. Our sales engineers are given total responsibility for their accounts and have frequent exposure to top management. Sales engineers are responsible for managing all company interactions with their accounts. Contact with our customers' organizations occurs at all levels of engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, marketing, sales and management. In addition, the sales engineer handles all commercial negotiations with their customers.

Upon Graduation of Program

After completion of the classroom and on-the-job training, you'll use your engineering knowledge, technical expertise and commercial skills to solve customer problems. The associate sales engineer will relocate to one of our field sales offices which are located throughout the United States.

Who are We Seeking?

We are seeking December 2017 or May 2018 college graduates with the following backgrounds:

Bachelor's or Master's in mechanical engineering or related degree from an accredited college or university.

A minimum overall GPA of 2.8

Possess leadership potential that has been demonstrated in academic or extra-curricular activities,

or during employment.

Achievement in non-academic pursuits such as clubs and organizations, special projects, military

service, and prior work experience.

Ability to learn quickly.

Flexibility and adaptability.

Demonstrated effective communication skills.

Ability to relocate.
