The Operator 2 - Crater is responsible for designing, building and loading custom wooden shipping crates for product storage and international shipping.

Primary Duties:
  • Reads shipping documentation, packing lists or system reports to determine items to be moved, gathered, and crated
  • Uses RF scanner to identify, track, and systematically move items through the crating process
  • Efficiently and safely moves, stacks, and stages products and materials using a fork lift or other power equipment
  • Checks orders for exactness and neatness according to ISO 9001 procedures
  • Marks materials with identifying information
  • Opens boxes, crates and other containers
  • Designs and builds custom wooden crates using measuring devices, multiple pneumatic tools, power saws, carpentry tools, power equipment and ladders
  • Loads wooden crates using forklifts, overhead cranes and regular heavy lifting
  • Records amounts of materials used and items crated
  • Unloads inbound lumber and supplies safely and moves products to storage locations
  • Assists in department and building cleanup as required
  • Maintains clean and safe equipment, reporting service requests as needed
  • Assists in maintaining the security of the warehouse by conducting operations in a manner which promotes safety
  • Follows all safety procedures to safeguard against personnel and team accidents
  • Performs safety inspections on equipment and cranes during daily startup procedures
  • Other duties as required and assigned
Requirements: Education and Experience:
  • High school education or GED (General Education Diploma) equivalency
  • One year continuous experience in full time carpentry or framing employment
  • One year continuous experience using pneumatic fastening equipment as a profession
  • Six months continuous experience using forklift or comparable construction equipment
  • Experience using minimum of 4 types of power saws, including miter and table
Essential Skills:
  • Ability to read, comprehend and apply gained knowledge of equipment manuals and memos
  • Ability to read, comprehend and apply gained knowledge using measuring tapes and gauges
  • Ability to learn proper operations of warehouse equipment, pneumatic tools, power tools, overhead crane, ladders and hand tools
  • Ability to regularly lift 75 pounds
  • Ability to read and comprehend comprehensive instructions and follow verbal instruction
  • Ability to efficiently and safely perform all of the listed primary job duties.
Environment:

While performing the duties of this job the employee will be required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, and reach with hands and arms. This position will require one to stoop, kneel, and crouch as it relates to product handling and distribution, and must regularly lift and/or move up to 75 pounds . This position will be regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, noise, and dust and will be exposed to extreme heat and extreme cold including climates consistent with outside weather conditions, therefore requiring safety glasses, ear protection, and gloves to be worn at all times while in the crating department. Hard hats are required while operating overhead cranes.
