Graymont (PA) is seeking a well-organized, highly motivated individual to fill the position of Underground Mine Project Engineer. This individual will lead numerous technical items within the underground mine including, but not limited to managing capital projects, mine permitting, surveying, and pumping/ventilation design and installation.
The position will also require possessing/obtaining a PA Blaster and Mine Foreman License to serve as an active member of the on-call management team. The keys for success will be a strong focus on safety, open/honest communication, teamwork, and continuous improvement in all aspects of both personal performance and the underground mine operation.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Execute underground mine related projects both on-time and on-budget. Projects often related to water management, ventilation, and electrical upgrades
  • Conduct and document roof control inspections
  • Identify potential efficiency improvements and cost saving opportunities
  • Complete daily mine surveying and provide an updated mine map weekly
  • Layout active mining faces for drilling/blasting
  • Frequent communication with miners to embed continuous improvement culture throughout department
QUALIFICATIONS
  • BS in Mining Engineering or technical degree and 4 years of underground mining experience
  • Proven ability with project management from concept to completion (budgeting, documentation, support coordination, etc.)
  • Experience in previous roles that demonstrates a strong commitment to health and safety issues as they relate to the mining industry
  • Experience with geotechnical instrumentation and technologies
  • Underground mine surveying and borescoping experience
  • Understanding of mining equipment, geology, and mine safety procedures
  • Obtain both PA Blasters License and Mine Foreman License
  • Able to work independently and be self-motivated
  • Proven ability to handle multiple tasks and demands
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (especially Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of JD Edwards software package
  • AutoCAD experience
  • Knowledge of MSHA and PA DEP regulations pertaining to metal/non-metal underground mining
