As the Senioer Trade Compliance Manager, you will support XPO in the issuance of export and import policies, procedures, methods, operating practices, and functional performance standards to facilitate effective implementation within program objectives and requirements. This role is critical to the long-term success of XPO.

What you'll do on a typical day:

  • Develop, implement, and update the Trade Compliance Program to ensure a best practices program consistent with U.S. Export/Import laws and Regulations of the U.S. State Department, U.S. Commerce Department, U.S. Department of Homeland Security (Customs), and global trade-related requirements in different regions
  • Provide advice and guidance to senior leaders on the complex application and implementation of U.S. Government export/import regulations, product marking and labeling; identify, coordinate, and provide export, import, or compliance training across respective business areas, keep improvement global metrics and compliance scorecards
  • Provide guidance regarding the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), ATF legislation and regulations, boycott legislation and regulations, US Customs regulations, and the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act
  • Review warehouse operations to ensure customs compliance including product marking and labeling, handling import and export compliance standards of imported/exported merchandise, valuation issues, country of origin determinations, NAFTA, and other Free Trade Agreement-related issues
  • Support and prepare information to inquiries from Customs Brokers and Freight Forwarders regarding country of origin, labeling and packaging, denied party screening, documentation and regional import requirements, or other import/export regulations to ensure timely clearance
  • Review various types of export transactions, and make appropriate export control determinations
  • Ensure appropriate tools are in place on a global scale for comprehensive tracking and reporting of appropriate trade compliance metrics

What you need to succeed at XPO:

At a minimum, you'll need:

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain
  • 10 years of strong experience in international trade compliance and supply chain working with different regions
  • In depth knowledge of lean principles as applicable to supply chain and warehouse
  • Experience in developing and implementing compliance training programs
  • Strong working knowledge and experience with import/export regulations and audit practices
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Experience working with warehouse management systems (WMS), and transportation management systems (TMS)

It'd be great if you also have:

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume distribution center environment
