Primary duty is the effective hands-on supervision of the daily operations in the ocean, air and ground transportation for all pharma related movements. Managing people, process and the pharma client base in addition to excellent communication skills are key to this position. This role will support, ground, ocean/air import/export pharma operation(s) by ensuring outstanding and consistent customer service as well as best in class pharma competencies. The Pharma Competence Centre Manager must proactively address service issues and meet customer's needs and expectations. Regularly mentor and train staff pharma on competencies and requirements (GDP) as well as update internal and external process changes as required. Will be responsible to supervisor staff with the intention of creating a Best in Class team with a goal of anticipated growth and development in Life Science.

Primary job duties and responsibilities are as follows:

  • Work with Management to continually improve pharma department operations with focus on productivity
  • Responsible to ensure department compliance with GDP / GMP requirements and company SOP's
  • Champion process and procedure to meet or exceed company KPI requirements
  • Manage pharma key accounts and client base with high level of customer service, operational excellence, and proactive conduct including client visits to maintain strong relationship
  • Supervise and direct the desk level, day to day operations of the Pharma Department
  • Responsible for overall team performance including staff development, recognition and training through daily desk level oversight, guidance and coaching
  • Will assign and manage work flow
  • Effectively deal with any issues that arise within scope of responsibility
  • Support sales initiatives through collaboration and participation in joint sales calls as required
  • Work with sales and customer service to transition business from sales to operations including the creation of SOP's and communication with overseas offices
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education and Experience include:

  • Minimum five (5) years' experience in ocean, air, customs and ground transportation operations
  • Minimum five (5) years' experience in a supervisory capacity
  • Minimum five (5) years' experience in Life Science
  • Both a team builder and a team player
  • Must work well under pressure as a self-starter, handling multiple tasks - ability to work across many accounts, projects, and/or issues and prioritize effectively
  • Internally motivated, self-starter with ability to plan, organize, and establish priorities to meet goals and achieve results
  • Good interpersonal skills required
  • Post-Secondary education
