As the Senior Director of Labor and Employee Relations, you will be responsible for leading organizing campaigns after a petition has been filed and for planning, developing and implementing strategies designed to promote positive employee relations that drive engagement. You'll also work on implementing systems and processes designed to identify and resolve issues before they reach critical mass, inoculating business units to avoid or mitigate organizing attempts or threats of imminent harm to the company, and developing and implementing training for employees, field leaders and HR. What you'll do on a typical day:

  • Design, update and implement labor relations business strategies, including developing training and communicating important information
  • Anticipate potential changes and advise business leaders on the impact strategic or operational decisions will have on engagement, dysfunction and unionization risk; make recommendations that avoid and/or mitigate labor disputes
  • Act as a first responder and provide leadership and materials for pre- or post-petition union campaigns, including leading the management team on the ground during organizing campaigns
  • Drive the development and execution of best-in-class training for front-line employees, field leaders and HR across the enterprise, including training on positive workplace practices and how to maintain a nonunion work environment or how to create a high-performing team if a union is organized

What you need to succeed at XPO:

At a minimum, you'll need:

  • Bachelor's degree in HR, Management, Business or a related field
  • 15 years of significant labor management experience in both union and nonunion environments, specifically in leading/organizing campaigns in the field, advancing practices and policies designed to promote employee engagement and company values, and overseeing collective bargaining negotiations

It'd be great if you also have:

  • Master's degree in HR, Management, Business or a related field
  • 15 or more years of significant labor and employee relations experience in a union environment
  • Experience participating with, and ideally leading, post-petition organizing campaigns
