We are looking for people to contribute to Lynden International’s overall customer experience success by effectively interacting and supporting our customers.

Perform all aspects of international Import shipments and carrier relations (negotiating rates & services with carriers to increase profits and reduce customer costs) through direct communication with customers and agents, and by maintaining a professional image and quality service. This includes communication and coordination with foreign agents utilizing both verbal and written communications.

Great experience in dealing with shipping lines, co-loaders, terminals and truckers is required (90% of ocean activity on this desk)


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Manage relationship with vendors and carriers to maintain a quality level of service.
  • Provide quotations to both customers, overseas offices and agents.
  • Able to set and meet deadlines per internal and external customer expectations.
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance for Imports
  • Identify and analyze customer requirements and ensure internal processes meet or exceed these.
  • Daily coordinating movement of freight, including determining routing to meet customers economic and time requirements. This includes coordination and transfer of documents with airlines, shipping lines and co-loaders.
  • Coordinate and facilitate brokerage and ISF entries with our in-house customs broker as well as other brokers. Knowledge of HTS classifications is a plus.
  • Identify and analyze customer requirements and ensure internal processes meet or exceed these.
  • Process shipment documents, including filing of paperwork.
  • Analyze current market to ensure competitive rates and profitability and quote shipping rates to customers.
  • Coordinate warehouse inventories and process for international customers.
  • Insure invoicing of customers is accurate to quoted and contractual obligations, and approve invoices for payment submission to the general office for payment.
  • Occasional overtime depending on the workload
  • Possible on-call scheduled for weekend
  • Regular and consistent attendance is required.


Minimum requirement is high school diploma plus 5 years of international freight experience, or 4-year college degree and 2 years international freight experience. Degree in logistics field preferred.

Excellent communication skills to effectively communicate via phone, email and in person.

Ability to calculate freight rates, including the effect of dimensionalized weight, and amounts such as percentages, volume, and discounts.

Ability to work independently to meet government, company, and customer expectations and regulations

Intermediate Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook user

Familiarity with 10-key

Good organizational skills

Foreign language skills a plus

Must pass pre-employment drug test and undergo background investigation.

  • Ability to possess and maintain a TSA Security Threat Assessment(STA) with a status of Passed, or a TSA recognized equivalent. TSA recognized equivalents include a Secure Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge, Commercial Driver's License(CDL) with Hazmat Endorsement issued within the 50 States or District of Columbia, the Transportation Worker Identification Card(TWIC), or Free and Secure Trade(FAST) card issued by U.S. Customs and Border Protection. STA's will be submitted by Lynden International upon job offer and renewed thereafter. Recognized equivalents must be current at time of application and successfully renewed by the applicant thereafter.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; handle office equipment, keyboard, tariffs, manuals, and a multitude of office forms and files; and, talk and hear over the telephone or in person. The employee may occasionally work in and around the warehouse. Some lifting up to 25 pounds.
