The engineering manager oversees all engineering activities of Wazee Crane. This includes project estimating, design, ordering materials as well as providing support to our fabrication shop and operations projects as identified.
Serve as engineering leader and technical expert
Train and develop engineering staff
Estimate cranes and other equipment orders
Write proposals for customer RFQs
Communicate directly with customers and sometimes "sell" our products
Design and detail all crane systems
Read job specifications
Submit data for approval on crane systems
Order all material for jobs
Schedule and prioritize jobs
Conduct site visits to evaluate projects or gather information
Provide operations and manufacturing support
Identify and implement process improvements
Develop internal engineering design standards
Other work as directed
BSME preferred but not necessary with proper experience and job specific knowledge
Minimum 5 to 7 years applicable experience
Proficient in AutoCAD, Solidworks (modeling and FEA), Mathcad, Acrobat, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project)
Experience reading and applying industry or regulatory codes in product designs
Experience working in an ISO 9001 environment
Prior experience with weld design and manufacturing (AWS D1.1 and 14.1 preferred)
Ability to work both independently and with others and maintain professionalism under pressure
Ability to align groups resources and schedules to company's dynamic production schedule
Excellent grammar and format for use in technical proposals and communication with vendors and customers
Previous engineering management experience
Overhead crane or other material handling industry experience
Advanced understanding of electrical circuitry and controls including but not limited to:
Fuse, wire, and conduit sizing (per NEC code)
Coding knowledge (VBA)
Epicor ERP (or similar) prior experience

The nature of this position has the employee in either the field or in a production shop. This necessitates appropriate PPE as well as safety practices appropriate for those locations
Travel is rare but not uncommon. Employee must be willing and able to travel and must have a valid passport for international work. Moreover, the employee must have a valid driver's license with auto insurance for travel to local jobsites (using their car or a company car).
