Qualifications and Experience Desired:
  • 5 years' experience, with at least some of that time in sales with proven track record of increasing revenue through generation of leads
  • 3-5 years of experience with freight forwarding operations
  • Some experience with direct management of shipments and interfacing with overseas agents and offices.
  • Experience with generating new sales leads and in following up on sales leads
  • A firm understanding of the requirements and management of price quotations
  • Proven proposal writing ability
  • Ongoing sales account management
  • Bachelor's degree Preferred
  • Experience in working with senior management to align sales strategies and solutions
  • Must have experience of working in a corporate/business focused environment
  • Excellent negotiation skills, proven track record of successfully pitching for new business

Job Description:

The Sales and Business Development Executive will focus on sales related to the shipments of domestic freight that will utilize our fleet of company trucks but also emphasize our brokerage department for the primary movement of FAK (freight of all kinds, excluding hazmat materials). This position requires experience or knowledge of freight route pricing based on peak and seasonal periods to ensure that the company is competitive in our pricing but also profitable for all booked loads.

Responsibilities and duties:
  • Primary target clients will be domestic, corporate, manufacturing clients that require cost effective movement of their products to distribution and manufacturing centers, final mile or production lines,
  • Secondary target clients will be state and federal agency clients that require shipping of freight that is non-household goods related (i.e. supplies, equipment or relief aid),
  • The management of our strategic and operational customer and marketing relationship activities,
  • Directly provide OR participate in the finalization of the review and pricing for the product/goods route,
  • Taking responsibility for the management of the sales and marketing functions of the business,
  • Directly initiate and drive increased revenue and profit to achieve the Company`s growth projections,
  • Work towards achieving defined targets by adopting a professional and knowledgeable approach to each new business call,
  • Work with the Brokerage Team to develop shipment and project quotations,
  • Support the team in building new customer business proposals,
  • Secure 25 new customers per quarter and participate in the weekly brokerage sales status meeting, and
