Quality Assurance Analyst - SPRINGFIELD, MO - O'Reilly Auto Parts

The Quality Assurance Analyst is a key participant in ensuring the quality of company software and applications by implementing functional UI, API endpoint/load/security, database, application security scans, and mobile application testing strategies. This role is responsible for the development and maintenance of test cases, both functional and API, and completing the testing therein. Throughout the testing process, analysts will analyze, record, and document the results of the tests and provide insight on the variances between the planned results versus actual results. Assist in the maintenance of test environments and data. Create SQL scripts to create, manipulate, and gather database data. In addition, this position will help maintain, create, and recommend new processes and standards to benefit the QA team.

Essential Job Functions

  • Analyze business and system specifications.
  • Create/maintain project overview pages.
  • Create/maintain detailed functional test cases.
  • Create/maintain API backend tests.
  • Execute test cases (manual or automated) and analyze results.
  • Create/Run SQL statements in order to create, update, or validate data.
  • Identify and document application defects in a centralized issue.
  • Makes decisions regarding issue/bug priorities based on business definitions.
  • Report test results and status as appropriate.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure quality throughout the software development life cycle.
  • Perform various types of testing including Unit, Integration and Regression, DB validation, system testing as needed.
  • Provide assessment of product quality at key milestones to project stakeholders.
  • Create and execute complex test plans/cases for full requirement coverage and traceability.
  • Evaluates priority of defect based on overall application functionality.
  • Participate in all phases of the software development life cycle, and acquire new technology skills, practices, and techniques.
  • Typically leads and participates in complex projects.
Other Job Functions

  • Create detailed, comprehensive and well-structured test plans and test cases.
  • Estimate, prioritize, plan and coordinate testing activities.
  • Liaise with internal teams (e.g. developers and product managers) to identify system requirements.
  • Investigate the causes of non-conforming software and train users to implement solutions.
  • Starts participating in decisions that shape standards and processes for QA Team.
  • Contributes to the establishment of standards and procedures for program design and testing.
  • May start leading the work of others.

Skills/Education/Knowledge/Experience/Abilities

Required:

  • Associate or Bachelor degree in IT related field or 2+ years QA experience.
  • Ability to work effectively and confidently in a team environment and individually.
  • Previous experience with software testing.
  • Solid understanding of software applications and testing best practices.
  • Intermediate knowledge of QA standards.
  • Intermediate understanding of test design and testing methodologies.
  • Good problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to document and troubleshoot errors.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines or goals without direct supervision.
  • Must work well in a team environment.
  • Ability to provide constructive feedback to team members they lead.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Intermediate knowledge of SQL.
  • Solid understanding of iSeries commands and file structures.
  • Flexible and willing to undertake a wide variety of tasks.
  • Good problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Must be able to learn independently.

Desired: 

  • Basic experience with API testing software.
  • Working knowledge of test management software.
  • Intermediate understanding of leadership skills and techniques.
  • SDLC practices in DevOps, CI/CD environment.
  • Basic experience with Confluence.
  • Basic experience with JIRA.
  • Ability to organize the work of others and create tasks to track that work.
  • Able to create clear and concise documentation for consumption by other teams.
