Customer Service Specialist

Function/Area: Operations Export/Imports

Location: Houston

Primary purpose is to coordinate and lead the daily and weekly activities that occur within ocean Export/ Import and air Export/ Import operation; execute shipments against customer/site requirements; Assist with duties related to document preparation and traffic coordination required to correctly process Export/ Import shipments in a cost-efficient manner within Company standards.

  • Process shipments and file customs documents in a timely manner.
  • Assist with processing of Export/ Import ocean shipments for an assigned base of accounts and other duties as assigned.
  • Receive, review and process Export/ Import ocean documentation. Process and follow Shipper's Letter of Instructions accurately. Calculate and prepare Export/ Import ocean Export/ Import quotations.
  • Prepare and process delivery orders, dock receipts, warehouse work orders, ocean b/l, and all required documentation as required per shipment. Close files and distribute documents in accordance with pertinent requirements and in compliance with Export/ Import standards.
  • Prepare commercial documents and bills of ladings (master, house, direct AWB/ocean)
  • Track and trace shipments from departure to arrival, alerting clients accordingly.
  • Adhere to company safety policies
  • Responds to orders, general customer inquiries, invoice questions and customer complaints
  • Ensure accurate and timely billing. Maintain accounting and process vendor invoices for payment.
  • Report customer complaints, determine problem, select and explain solutions, expedite corrections or adjustment, following up to ensure resolution.
  • Handle any other duties as assigned by supervisor and/or manager

  • Build positive relationships with customers and help resolve any problems with freight as they arise
