Assistant General Manager (Logistics Operations) - Kinloch, MO - Penske

Position Summary:
The Assistant General manager Provide tactical direction and leadership to staff to ensure customer requirements are met while meeting our Penske goals and objectives. Maintain a professional approach while supporting the solution enabling achievement of all contractual obligations. Create and foster a relationship with the customer's logistics manager to facilitate operational stability.

Major Responsibilities:
- Ensure that all managers/supervisors at the site understand how their work relates to the customers' business objectives. Interview and hire all associates up to supervisor level. Conduct exit interviews as needed, Build engagement by expressing pride in the group where the goals are met and recognize and reward associates for their achievements, Identify and develop direct reports through training and succession planning.

Interact daily with our local customer to ensure we understand existing and emerging customer needs, Utilize team to identify operational improvements in areas such as shipping, receiving, inventory and warehouse operations, Collaborate with other Penske sites to share best practices, leverage resources/assets, etc. Meet or exceed all customer KPIs and objectives. Own end-to-end warehouse operations of a site or multiple sites as assigned.
- Develop and execute annual financial and operating plan, Manage the operation with integrity to meet or exceed the Business Plan targets, Identifies issues with the operating metrics and P&L and responds accordingly, Ensure customer billings and associate payroll are prepared timely and accurately, the payables and intercompany charges are valid and correct, and all other activities are accurately reflected in the P&L.
- Create and sustain a "Safety First" culture. Monitor and improve accident frequency working proactively with associates and safety teams in reducing injuries and accidents, Ensure each associate understands their individual role and responsibilities, as well as the group's role and responsibilities required to achieve and maintain a safe work place, Proactively identify and correct unsafe conditions, work processes, and behaviors, Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory agencies and company policies and procedures.
Growth / Customer Experience:
- Build a strong rapport with the customer. Execute a process to track and record value delivered to the customer, Identify and seize profitable business opportunities, Utilize available metrics to monitor and maximize customer efficiencies and achieve cost savings. Looks for ways to maximize business potential with the customer.

8 years related logistics and supply chain experience required. Food grade distribution/warehousing in a high velocity and fast paced environment preferred.
- At least 5 years managerial experience in a distribution center environment required.
- Bachelor's Degree in Business or Supply Chain Management preferred.
- Ability to work in a 900,000 sq,ft temperature controlled distribution center.
- Ability to manage 25 direct reports and 350 indirect reports.
- Ability to identify, create, own and implement process improvements.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute annual financial operating plan.
- Ability to work closely and collaborate with engineering, human resources, food safety and loss prevention teams.
- Overseeing operations 7 days a week and ability to work a flexible schedule covering considerable weekends and some holidays.
- Proficiency with computers including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint required.
- Strong written/oral communication and organizational skills are required.
- Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job.
- Willingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule, work at the specific location required, complete Penske employment application, submit to a background investigation (to include past employment, education, and criminal history) and drug screening required.
