Compensation: $136 - 227K /yr

Job Description:

The primary purpose of this role is to direct and oversee the movement, inbound and outbound, of all collect domestic product and services within the U.S. for Lowe's Corporation to stores and distribution networks. This includes responsibility for the overall performance of the domestic transportation service providers within the domestic transportation network, as well as overseeing a large team responsible for selecting the best mode of transportation to optimize shipments, reduce expenses, and improve margins and service based on cost, capacity, and network lead time the stores, RDC, FDC and specialty networks. This role is critical to Lowe's as it establishes the strategic direction and long-term objectives for all North American transportation and ensures that product moves throughout the supply chain to ensure Lowe's has product in our stores when our customers expect it.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provides guidance and establishes the strategic direction for contract negotiations for all North American transportation services
  • Establishes and utilizes Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) that drive competitive costs and service, adding value for not only transportation, but for all Supply Chain teams
  • Ensures the development of TL, Intermodal, LTL, Parcel, and Rail, and Jones Act ocean carrier programs to meet the capacity and service requirements of the Lowe's supply chain to provide the timely movement of products to DC's, stores, and end customers; ensures the development of environmentally sustainable carrier programs
  • Oversees the administration of RFQ's for both inbound and outbound transportation service packages and demonstrates strong negotiations and analytical skills to ensure the lowest overall transportation cost consistent with high service- requirements
  • Provides carrier rate data and carrier capacity resources within the JDA Transportation Management to ensure accurate load planning, freight estimation, and freight payment matching; monitors carrier performance and provides guidance for any necessary corrective action
  • Oversees and leads central inbound and outbound team to ensure the highest of shipment/transportation services at competitive costs, as well as the highest of load planning and scheduling for all shipment/transportation services
  • Performs transportation studies to evaluate feasibility of various and/or new modes of product transportation; makes recommendations to improve service, lower cost, and provide better equipment availability or other suggestions as a result of studies and data analysis with an emphasis on continuous improvement for transportation services and costs
  • Coordinates effective use of carriers to meet both inbound to DC and DC outbound capacity, service, and cost requirements; monitors budget variances and plans appropriate adjustments
  • Responsible for supporting the negotiation of freight claims to a conclusion, ensuring collection of lost revenue from carrier for the failure to protect goods, as well as ensuring that exception freight bills are resolved and carriers are compliant with Lowe's invoicing expectations
  • Represents Lowe's in meetings/conferences with professional groups such as NITL, Nasstrac, RILA, American Trucking Association, NC Trucking Association, SC Trucking Association, and NC Transportation League

Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Transportation or Logistics or related field
  • 8 years of Experience in Logistics or Transportation field with expertise in distribution center, retail store, and transportation operations, as well as at least 5 years of leadership experience with direct report responsibility
