Database Engineer - Queens, NY - OEC Group

What we're looking for...
  • OEC Group is currently looking for candidates with around 2-5 years experience working with databases within in an IT department.
  • The ideal candidate must have the ability to see different perspectives, communicate with business users to gather requirements and translate them to the IT department to execute.
  • The Database Engineer must have a degree related to IT/Computer Science, is proficient with Microsoft SQL Server, and is familiar with report design and implementation using Crystal Reports, Power BI, or SSRS.

About the Position

Duties and responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned):
  • Create, execute, and interpret results from simple to moderately complex ad hoc SQL queries.
  • Operate and maintain freight related applications and underlying data structures and data representations.
  • Design and generate operation reports based on confirmed requirements
  • Troubleshoot and resolve freight management system issues
  • Communicate with internal business users and team members in both US and Asia as well as out-sourced vendors/consultants to complete projects or solve issues.

Work Schedule

New York Office 9:00 am - 6:00 pm EST

Required Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • 2+ years of experience in database development involving SQL script, stored procedure and function scripting
  • 2+ years of experience in report design and implementation, familiar with various reporting tools such as Crystal reports, Qlik sense, PowerBI or SSRS.
  • Experienced with Microsoft SQL Server
  • Familiar with Microsoft Windows and Linux

Preferred Qualifications (Not a requirement)
  • Experience with data integration among different systems is a plus
  • Experience with CargoWise One or any freight management system, in terms of system administration, workflow, doc and report, and/or customization, is a plus
  • Fluent in Mandarin or Spanish is a plus
  • MCSA: Database Development certified is a plus
  • CargoWise One CCO, CCS, or CCP certified is a plus

Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field required and at least 2 years work experience.

Salary Range

$75,000-$100,000 based off education and years of related experience
