Logistics Supervisor

The Logistics Supervisor coordinates the movement of materials between the port, customs, our warehouse, transportation brokers, and our customers, and supervises the team handling the incoming and outgoing shipments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the Logistics Supervisor
  • Primary point of contact between Eska, customs, and transportation brokers
  • Books loads and creates rest deliveries when needed
  • Negotiates pricing and ensures Eska is not overcharged for lanes
  • Monitors bobtails and late containers
  • Maintains inventory records with a key role in the inventory process
  • First point of contact for the shipping & receiving team
  • Creates, maintains, and enforces the execution of standard operating procedures
  • Establishes daily activities of the Shipping & Receiving Department
  • Supervision of 11 shipping & receiving personnel, including playing a key role in the hiring process, training & development, scheduling & payroll
The successful candidate for Logistics Supervisor possesses the following skills and characteristics:
  • Proven attention to detail
  • Demonstrated pricing and negotiation experience with brokers
  • Prior employment in a fast-paced, deadline-driven industry
  • Commitment to customer service
  • Able to provide examples of taking the initiative and/or being a self-starter
  • Asks questions of stakeholders to improve processes
  • Critical thinking skills with a track record of providing solutions for customers
  • Employee engagement including direction and oversight
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or five or more years of experience as a logistics and/or supply chain professional
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Prior experience leading and directing a team
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Excel
