Purpose:
Oversees Philadelphia Gear's US Navy main reduction gear (MRG) programs for the DDG, FFG, LHA, LPD, and CVN ship classes and any select future Marine MRG programs. The position provides coordination collaboration with various functional business groups/departments to meet contractual and technical specifications, USG compliance obligations, delivery schedules, and budgets for Philadelphia Gear. Navy MRG programs currently generate +$100MM in annual product revenue for Philadelphia Gear making the US Navy our largest customer. This position is responsible for complex mandatory monthly reporting to the USG and shipyards related to PG technical, schedule and cost performance as well as being the primary customer interface with the Navy and respective shipyards for the contracted programs. This position would be considered a senior leader with the Marine Production & Service Center and an incumbent candidate for other positions including General Management and functional Group leadership positions.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversees the current Navy class programs for DDG, FFG, LHA, LPD, and CVN ships along with any potential future Marine Programs.
All regular periodic reporting and meetings on the existing DDG, FFG, LHA, LPD and CVN MRG programs and any select new future Marine Programs.
Supervising, mentoring, and guiding career development of individual Project/Program Managers (PM) via direct reporting relationships, at least (2) Project/Program Managers (PM) report to this position.
Coordinate and work with all relevant internal functional departments to drive performance for quality schedule, and job cost for the Marine Programs.
Support efforts for the development of new Navy and Marine Program business as required.
Coordinate with senior group leadership to ensure that administrative and technical contract requirements are met and that company service, quality, cost, cash collection, and margin objectives are met.
Insures contractual compliance and contractual submittals.
Help coordinate the functional business groups/departments to meet project specifications, schedule, and budget.
Handle customer interface with the Navy and the shipyards for the contracted Marine Programs.
Support efforts to help secure new Marine Programs and additional business for existing programs.
Includes occasional travel to support Navy and shipyard meetings.
Required Skills and Experience
Min. Bachelor's degree with 7 - 10 yrs. previous management experience or related, advance degree preferred.
Must have large scale, ($50-$100MM+) critical equipment manufacturing project management experience. Preferably in large rotating equipment space.
Must have senior management expertise coordinating professionals across diverse teams.
Must have strong communication and technical skills.
Must be able to work as part of a team and in a critical fast paced environment.
Preference to have served or worked for the US Navy in a prior career role.
Preference to have marine propulsion, preferably MRG, or other naval propulsion engineering experience.
Pay Range: $120K - $155K
