Carolina Bearing Repair Service Center, a division of Timken Power Systems, is currently seeking a SC Specialist -- CNC to support operations for the Union, SC site.

This is a lead technical operative position that is responsible for CNC programming, machine set up (VTL, Milling Machine and HTL), and CNC machine operation as needed as well as ability to measure and produce high quality parts at the Carolina Service Center. (Hourly)

This is a Dayshift, Monday-Thursday position.

Essential Responsibilities:

This position will be primarily responsible to oversee the CNC programming (ability to write and modify G code - Fanuc Controllers) as well as ability to operate a CNC VTL, a 5 axis CNC milling machine and a HTL used to make bearing replacement parts. This position would assist operators with set up of machine and programming of machine. This position would also be responsible to program, set up and operate all of the CNC machines (3 types - 4 machines) as well as appropriately measure and gauge the product produced on this machine. This position would be expected to operate equipment and fill in for operators as needed. This position would work with our engineering department to create, develop and store part program files for future use. Responsibility would include working to create continuous improvement opportunities in our CNC processes to minimize change over times, improve tooling costs and productivity gains.

In addition- this position may be asked to assist team leaders in managing production and staffing schedules. Also - the position would be asked to cross-train in other high skilled areas in production.

This position is also responsible for overseeing preventive maintenance on area assets and is accountable for the quality of product produced and for schedule attainment.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Basic math skills
  • 3-5 years CNC experience with ability to program in G code
  • Ability to operate industrial hand tools
  • Ability to operate powered industrial trucks
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Gauging with micrometers, dial indicators, etc.
  • Grinding, machining and welding education and/or experience
  • Advanced gauging (e.g., CMM, CPG, etc.)
  • Quality systems awareness
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Good attention to detail
  • Basic computer skills
