Timken Drive Systems & Services', Philadelphia Gear brand, has a current opening for an Mechatronics Engineer. This position is responsible for providing project engineering and technical leadership for the Drivetrain business as well as supporting the design and manufacturer of Drivetrain and other electrical/ mechanical transmission equipment. The incumbent will provide technical evaluations to support customer quotation/ proposal requests and works with all members of the Timken Drive Systems & Services network to achieve promised on-time delivery commitments, quality, and financial objectives. This position reports to the Chief Electrical Engineer and the incumbent can be based out of either our King of Prussia, PA office or Princeton, WV site location.
Essential Responsibilities:
Design of product components, including modeling and drafting.
Perform material and component condition dispositions employing sound engineering practices.
Perform analytical tests of product and components.
Review of customer technical requirements and specifications and optimize process methods, material selection, and product performance.
Provide technical support to customers, production, sales, quality, and supply chain teams.
Travel to customer locations (attend project meetings, perform condition assessment of complaint products - travel quantified as infrequent)
Support and provide guidance to Regional Service Center operations.
Provide technical oversight of drivetrain manufacturing and product testing to ensure quality standards and on-time delivery commitments are met.
Ensure 100% on-time, on-spec, and on-budget standard operating procedures and strategy objectives are met.
Review specifications and implement, changes and/or upgrades to support drivetrain manufacturing.
Provide final reports as required per contract.
Technical/ Functional Skills:
Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other features of MS office software
Proficiency with CAD software, SolidWorks preferred
Knowledge of fluid film, rolling element bearings, lubrication systems and vibration analysis
Familiarity with current industry standards (IEEE, NEMA, EASA, etc.)
Demonstrated project management skills
Excellent communication skills (verbal & written) and teamwork approach with inside and outside teams
Strong problem solving skills
Strong analytical skills including the ability to analyze and interpret critical data
Fundamental knowledge of workplace safety
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering required, Mechatronics Engineering preferred
3 years' experience in electric motor repair/ testing or manufacturing industry
3 years' experience in project management
Experience in design, manufacture, testing and applications of AC and DC electric motors, instrumentation and controls is preferred
