Purpose and Scope
Design/administer quality systems to support quality advancement of assigned department. Facilitate resolution of Customer Quality related issues. Reduce lead-time in problem resolution. Improve customer satisfaction and Timken brand awareness via increased focus and contact frequency. Identify and monitor key quality metrics and customer specific requirements (e.g., process capability indices). Develop and support tactics to reduce cost, improve quality and reliability of manufacturing processes. Lead improvement activities including but not limited to, idea development and analysis, planning and prioritization of projects, implementation and integration of new technologies and practices.
Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with customer specific requirements as applicable to APQP (FMEA, PPAP, PCPs ). Manage customer complaints immediate 3D, 8D and monitoring of solution verification and coordinate/support communications between Timken and customers. Administer system to track status of complaints. Coordinate and support efforts for identification, control (including SPC & MSA), reduction and/or elimination of rejects (rework/scrap), identifying and mitigating the risks associated with each as feasible. Work with Supplier Quality associates to facilitate resolution of supplier quality problems. Examples include supplier visits, evaluation of supplier 3Ds and 8Ds, etc. Identify and implement improvement opportunities consistent with plant Business Plan objectives and Customer-Specific requirements.
Requirements
Demonstrated knowledge of product design, manufacturing practices, testing and acceptance criteria, APQP process
Demonstrated abilities in problem solving and basic statistics
Effective interpersonal skills
Demonstrated familiarity with 6-Sigma (Lean and Statistical) and Shainin tools
Excellent demonstrated communication skills
Bachelor's degree in Quality, Engineering or related field with 5 plus years of experience. OR
Associates Degree in Quality, Engineering or related field with 10 plus years of experience.
Quality certification preferred.
