Job Title: Roller Inspector

Description: Inspects rollers for visible damage and flaws as outline in the Association of American Railroads (AAR). Accepts or rejects rollers according to findings. Other tasks as assigned by the supervisor or company management.

Overall Purpose: Inspects rollers in cone assemblies for defects, to determine if they are eligible for future use in bearing assemblies.

Essential Functions:

1. Examines rollers for defects, such as marks, scratches, or other blemishes.

2. Uses a non-permanent marking pen to indicate on the spacer any defects found on the rollers for data purposes.

Physical Demands & Frequency: Requires frequent lifting, bending, turning, reaching, handling, fingering and near acuity.

A. Position: Standing

B. Weights & Force: Lifting up to 40 pounds.

C. Use of Controls: Hand held buffing device.

D. Vision must be normal (20/20). Correctional lenses are acceptable.

General Educational Development: Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent. Information may be presented in written, oral or diagrammatic form and requires a common sense understanding to be applied in order to carry out the instructions. Must be able to understand and apply basic math skills in order to complete the requirements of day to day work activities.

Qualifications/Training: Candidate shall successfully complete training program and as applicable, qualification requirements, as defined by the responsible functional manager. New hires shall demonstrate satisfactory performance during new hire probationary period.
