What you'll do on a typical day:

  • Influence and assist with the development and use of transportation management and optimization systems
  • Collaborate on systems enhancements and upgrades with internal departments, including Engineering, IT and Operations
  • Implement transportation and logistics special projects while maintaining compliance with all policies, procedures and regulations

What you need to succeed at XPO:

At a minimum, you'll need:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 3 years of experience in load planning/building and logistics management, including working with carriers, corporate logistics management or Third-Party Logistics (3PL) companies
  • Experience using the i2 Transportation Planner
  • Familiarity with accessorial charges, rating and pricing schemes for all transportation modes, including the mechanics of Less-than-Truckload (LTL) class-rate tariffs, small parcel zone-based tariffs, and Truckload (TL) mileage-based tariffs
  • Knowledge of freight classification systems including NMFC and density-based classifications
  • Thorough knowledge of common logistics-related documentation, including bill of lading, standard claims forms, MSDS, etc.
  • Ability to understand concepts that affect transportation costs, including lane balance, backhaul vs. head haul, seasonal capacity, transit time requirements, freight handling characteristics, etc.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint), transportation and warehouse management systems (TMS, WMS), Rand McNally MileMaker, etc.
