Customs Broker – In-Office | Great Neck, NY
A well-established international logistics and freight forwarding provider with over 30 years of experience is seeking an experienced Customs Brokerage Specialist to join their team in Great Neck, NY. This is a full-time, in-office position ideal for professionals with deep expertise in customs clearance, regulatory compliance, and U.S. import procedures.
Salary Range: $75,000 – $90,000 annually (based on experience)
Software Requirement: CargoWise experience is required
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit accurate documentation for U.S. Customs clearance
- Classify products using HTS codes and determine duties, taxes, and import compliance requirements
- Ensure compliance with U.S. Customs and Partner Government Agencies (FDA, USDA, Fish & Wildlife, Lacey Act, etc.)
- Communicate effectively with clients and overseas agents on DDP shipments, delivery status, and required paperwork
- Resolve customs delays, documentation discrepancies, and clearance issues
- Maintain records in accordance with CBP and internal compliance standards
- Stay up-to-date with trade regulations and apply changes to internal workflows
Qualifications
- 5–10 years of experience in customs brokerage or import operations within the freight forwarding industry
- CargoWise experience is required
- Strong knowledge of HTS classification, CBP regulations, and PGA requirements
- Experience with FDA codes, Lacey Act entries, and DDP procedures
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Customs Broker License is preferred but not required
