Position Summary: The Senior Manufacturing Engineer plays a critical role in supporting and improving operations within a low-volume, high-mix chain manufacturing environment. This position requires a strong presence on the shop floor to troubleshoot equipment issues, collaborate with production and maintenance teams, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. The engineer will lead efforts in safety compliance, equipment optimization, and root cause analysis, while managing multiple engineering projects and coordinating with internal teams and external partners to implement effective solutions that enhance productivity, equipment reliability, and overall operational performance.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Safety Compliance: Promote a strong safety culture by ensuring adherence to all safety protocols and conducting regular audits. Partner with leadership and shop floor teams to identify and implement safety improvements specific to chain manufacturing operations.
  • Continuous Improvement: Lead initiatives to improve productivity and machine preformance in a low-volume, high-mix chain manufacturing environment. Actively engage on the shop floor to identify inefficiencies and implement process improvements in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Equipment Troubleshooting & Support: Maintain a consistent presence on the manufacturing floor to troubleshoot equipment issues related to chain assembly and production. Work closely with production and maintenance teams to resolve technical problems, minimize downtime, and ensure equipment reliability.
  • Project Management: Manage multiple engineering projects, including partnering with maintenance and production associates. Oversee contractors and suppliers to ensure timely, cost-effective implementation of new technologies and process upgrades.
  • Problem Solving & Root Cause Analysis: Lead structured problem-solving efforts to address critical manufacturing issues. Facilitate root cause analysis with production and maintenance teams, develop corrective actions, and monitor effectiveness to ensure long-term resolution

Qualifications

  • Required:
    • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering; and 2 years manufacturing experience.
    • Experience in CAD software and manufacturing simulation tools
    • Proven ability to lead root cause analysis and implement sustainable corrective actions
    • Demonstrated success in driving continuous improvement initiatives on the manufacturing floor
    • Ability to independently manage complex projects with cross-functional collaboration
    • Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills (verbal & written)
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel

  • Preferred:
    • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering; and 4 years manufacturing experience.
    • knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, gauging, controls, and mechanical or electrical engineering principles
    • Experience with SAP or other ERP systems
    • Familiarity with conducting time studies and using data to optimize processes
    • Exposure to lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other structured improvement methodologies

The yearly compensation for this role is $68,320 - $103,740, is commensurate on experience and education, and could pay more or less than the posted range. This full-time position is eligible to participate in the company's short-term incentive program, paid time off plan, 401k, and comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision.
