We believe in a team environment built on respect.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a Director of Logistics to oversee daily dispatching, routing, and driver coordination across our fuel delivery network. This role is responsible for ensuring routes are executed efficiently, drivers are supported, and communication across teams is clear and accurate.

The ideal candidate will bring strong operational leadership, attention to detail, and the ability to analyze and learn from route and profitability data. A working knowledge of dispatch and routing technology is also essential, as this person will play an active role in improving how technology supports our operations.

The role requires consistent coordination with Drivers, Service, Sales, Fleet, Billing, and Accounting leadership to promote transparency, accountability, and unified operational priorities.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Oversight:

  • Oversee daily dispatch operations for multiple regions (Chicagoland and Northern Indiana), ensuring deliveries are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
  • Monitor route execution and adjust as needed to minimize driver overtime and maximize productivity.
  • Review driver performance and route data daily to identify inefficiencies and recommend corrective actions.
  • Maintain oversight of internal fuel deliveries to bulk plants and cardlocks to prevent overfills, outdated pricing, or unnecessary product movement.
    Leadership and Team Management
  • Lead and mentor a team of three dispatchers, ensuring consistent communication, accountability, and operational discipline.
  • Promote a culture of accuracy, responsiveness, and proactive problem-solving within the dispatch team.
  • Work collaboratively with other department managers (Drivers, Service, Sales, Fleet, Billing, and Accounting) to maintain transparency and eliminate silos between teams.
  • Provide training and coaching to help dispatchers better utilize tools and systems that support route planning and communication.
    Communication and Coordination
  • Serve as the primary communication link between routes, dispatchers, and management.
  • Ensure all communication and instructions are fact-based, clearly documented, and complete before being relayed to others.
  • Provide daily summaries to leadership on driver hours, route adjustments, and delivery performance.
  • Proactively develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) and long-term solutions when recurring issues or communication gaps arise.

Process and Continuous Improvement
  • Use route and profitability data to assess driver performance, identify improvement opportunities, and learn from trends.
  • Collaborate with leadership and other managers to refine scheduling, routing, and fuel management processes.
  • Leverage available technology and tools to streamline dispatch workflows and enhance efficiency across operations.

Compliance and Safety:
  • Ensure all dispatch activities comply with DOT, OSHA, and company safety regulations.
  • Enforce proper documentation and communication standards for driver activity and route performance.

Qualifications:
  • Proven working experience in liquid commodity logistics or supply chain management.
  • Previous dispatch experience in a liquid commodity or similar operational environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, train, and manage a dispatch team.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and decision-making skills with a basic understanding of route data and profitability analysis.
  • Solid understanding of dispatching software, GPS tracking, and routing tools.
  • Comfortable using technology to improve efficiency and communication.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and prevent operational silos.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
