What you'll do on a typical day:
- Develop, implement and update the Trade Compliance Program to ensure a program of standard methodologies consistent with U.S. export/import laws and regulations of the U.S. State Department, U.S. Commerce Department and U.S. Department of Homeland Security (Customs), as well as global trade-related requirements in different regions
- Advise and mentor senior leaders on the complex application and implementation of U.S. Government export/import regulations and product marking/labeling; identify, oversee and provide export/import or compliance training across respective business areas; maintain global improvement metrics and compliance scorecards
- Provide guidance regarding the legislation and regulations related to International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), ATF, boycott, U.S. Customs and the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act
- Review warehouse operations to ensure customs compliance, including product marking and labeling, handling import and export compliance standards of imported/exported merchandise, valuation issues, country of origin determinations, NAFTA and other Free Trade Agreement-related issues
- Support and prepare information for inquiries from customs brokers and freight forwarders regarding country of origin, labeling and packaging, denied party screening, documentation and regional import requirements, or other import/export regulations to ensure timely clearance
- Review various types of export transactions and make export control determinations
- Ensure tools are in place on a global scale to comprehensively track and report appropriate trade compliance metrics
What you need to succeed at XPO:
At a minimum, you'll need:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain or equivalent work experience
- 10 years of strong experience working with different regions in international trade compliance and supply chain
- In-depth knowledge of Lean principles, as applicable to supply chain and warehouse
- Experience in developing and implementing compliance training programs
- Strong working knowledge and experience with import/export regulations and audit practices
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Windows applications
- Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Transportation Management Systems (TMS)
