Purpose and ScopeThis position will provide physical security and fire protection to all associates and facilities. This position will coordinate all safety, ergonomic and environmental activities for the plant including record keeping and auditing of the systems. This position leads the safety team and the precaution-based safety groups for the plant.
ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities for this position include the following: 1. Leads the plant's security efforts to protect and secure all company associates, assets and visitors. 2. Works with contractors that supply security staffing to ensure all areas of operation are covered while keeping expenses to a minimum. 3. Provides training to and supervises the internal fire brigade. Tracks the brigates responsiveness to emergencies. 4. Enforces all company safety policies and practices. Communicates safety practices to managers, supervisors, staff and operative associates. 5. Responsible for regular safety audits on all operating equipment such as cranes, grinders, PIT's, storage racks, fall protection, and performs annual drill/lathe guard audits as required. 6. Maintains compliance to all environmantal areas for the district by coordinating external and internal audits and overseeing related programs. 7. Manages the plant's SET (scheduled environmental tasks) for the plant. 8. Submits all required safety and environmental reports to Corporate EH&S. 9. Conducts testing on all fire related safety devices (ie. hydrants, pumps, foam systems, PIV,CO2 systems, etc..) 10. Leads the safety team monthly meetings and the precaution-based safety meetings as well. 11. Responsible for leading plant's ergonomic risk assessments and reductions. 12. Generates the SARA312 annual reports. 13. Represents the plant on the local safey council. 14. Leads the plant's investigations into root cause analysis for accidents and near misses around the plant 15. Maintains the plant's MSDS paperwork and is the plant's lead person in chemical approvals.
- Familiarity with standard EH&S regulations and practices, governing agencies, and terminology.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word), and ability to use a personal computer.
- Strong writing and communications and skills. Ability to independently create reports and plant communications related to EH&S.
- BACHELOR of Safety/Industrial Hygiene, Environmental/Occupational Health, or related field.
- At least 3 years of prior experience with safety, OSHA, or other EHS reporting and compliance.
- Valid State Driver's License
