Magnetic Instrumentation is looking for a self-motivated and experienced machinist to lead our effort to establish in-house fabrication capability. You will be employee #1 in our new machine shop. We are looking for individuals who are generally happy and positive and who will appreciate the opportunity to set up a new department in addition to the classic responsibilities of a machinist.
Responsibilities will include
- Internal communication with engineers, technicians, builders and production managers
- Procure and commission new machine tools (CNC and conventional)
- Fabricate bespoke parts to high precision
- QC fabrication work using dial calipers, steel scales, micrometers, gauge pins, etc.
- Purchase raw materials for parts fabrication
- Maintain working condition of equipment
- Communicate with outside machine shops for fabricated parts that we source externally
Skills
- CNC programming and operating
- Experience with manual lathes and mills
- Good communicator
- Very comfortable reading and correcting dimensional drawings
- Comfort with GD&T, Ordinate Dimensioning, Linear Dimensioning, etc.
- High-precision machining of multiple material types (metals, plastics, and composites)
- Development thinking; fabricate prototype parts that have never been made before
- Supervision, training or management experience is preferred
